The aft grand staircase was most likely torn apart as the Titanic broke up, being at or just aft of the point of rupture. Maybe some of the air could find a way out through the cargo hatches and doors on the aft well deck, but most air would remain trapped in the huge engine rooms. That would cause implosions, no explosions. However, From what I've heard on encyclopedia Titanic, as quoted "If the ship was still in one piece when she was descending to the bottom, the stern section would indeed contain trapped air. I'd imagine that even if the Titanic went down in one piece, the Forward Grand Staircase in a single piece wreck would still be an open hole all the way down to D deck. This is specifically about a particular aspect of a single piece titanic wreck. ![]()
